I have been freshwater fly fishing since 1997, chasing trout, bass, panfish, steelhead, and salmon. I loved canoeing, but started kayaking actively in 2009 so that I could more easily transport and carry a boat that allowed my kids could go with me. As an avid outdoorsman involved with conservation and education, I can promote the versatility and excitement of fishing lakes and rivers with a kayak.
I am married with 3 kids. My son has fished with me since he was about 4 and still makes time for fishing as a full-time college student and working part-time. My youngest daughter has “replaced” him since she is still at home, and loves the kayaking more than the fishing. Professionally, I am an IT Manager for an international company – interacting with people more than the machines.
I have been a member of Trout Unlimited since 1998 in a variety of leadership positions at the chapter and state level. I currently serve as Finance Chair for the Michigan State Council.
I am a fresh water fly fisherman by preference. There is much I need to learn in the rivers and lakes with my fly rod. I actively fish for trout, bass, bluegill, and other panfish. I have fished primarily Michigan, but have spent time in Ohio, Minnesota, Montana, and Tennesee. I grew up canoeing, and used my canoe early on with fly fishing, but switched to a kayak as a lighter boat I could control with my kids.
I joined the Hobie Fishing Team in 2015 with Avon Sailboats.
